This isn't your everyday garter stitch cowl! Rikaart turns garter stitch on its head with stripes and directional changes. In this class, you'll explore construction methods, changing colors, and dip your feet into intarsia knitting, which is not that scary!

Requirements: This class is for advanced beginners to intermediate knitters. You MUST be comfortable knitting and purling, as well as working simple increases and decreases. Colorwork experience is not necessary.

Materials needed: 2 US size 6 (4.0 mm) 24" circular needles, at least 80 yds of 6 colors of fingering weight yarn such as the Wonderland Yarns gradient sets (plus an additional color) or Berocco Comfort DK (it knits close enough to a fingering weight), stitch markers. All materials should be purchased from The Twisted Knitter.

Pattern can be found here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rikaart
**Please note that this is a paid pattern. Please bring your pattern with you to class; copies are not provided.**

Class will meet on SUNDAYS, February 26 and March 5, 2017 from 1-3pm. The shop will not be open to the public but the class will meet, so you must have your materials before the first class. Cost is $35 and must be paid at the time of registration to confirm your placein the class. A minimum of 2 participants must be registered no later than February 24, or the class will be canceled. Call or visit the shop to register.

Homework: While gauge is not crucial for this project, it can affect your yardage. Please work agauge swatch in garter stitch (1 color) to ensure that you won't need extra yarn to finish the project.
Beginning Socks (Worsted)- Taught by Emily Walton

Beginning Socks (Worsted)- Taught by Emily Walton
3:00 pm

In this class, we will tackle a simple pair of cuff-down socks. Note that simple doesn't mean blah! There will be a texture pattern so you don't get bored. You will learn the parts of a sock, how to work a heel flap and heel turn, how to pick up stitchesfor the gusset and how to close the toe with Kitchener stitch.

This class is for advanced beginner and intermediate knitters. You must be comfortable with knits and purls, as well as simple decreases (k2tog and ssk). You should have at least a little experience knitting in the round, either on a circular needle or DPNs.

Materials needed: approximately 300-350 yds of worsted weight yarn in a wool blend suitable for socks, such as Berrocco Ultra Wool or Ella Rae Classic. No single-ply yarns; they won't hold up under the stress of daily wear. A solid or tonal color would be best, but you can go variegated if you prefer. US size 3 and 5 DPNs or size to make gauge (a 9" circular is optional for the leg and foot, but you still need DPNs to finish the toe), sewing needle, stitch markers. All materials should be purchased from The Twisted Knitter.

Pattern will be Rye Socks, available here: http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/rye-4

Class will meet on SUNDAYS, February 26 and March 12, 2017 from 3-5pm. The shop will not be open to the public, but the class will meet. Please have your materials ready before the first class. Cost is $50 and must be paid at the time of registration to confirm your place in the class. A minimum of 2 participants mustbe registered no later than February 2, or the class will be canceled. Call or visit the shop to register.

Homework: Knit a gauge swatch before the first class, using the suggested gauge in the pattern (22 sts and 30 rows=4" in Stockinette st on size 5 needles).

(Don't worry; we'll start easier than this!)
